An Experienced Florida CDL DUI Lawyer

You’ve been charged. We can help.

If you drive commercial vehicles for a living in Florida, you have a commercial driver’s license (CDL). A DUI charge – whether it’s while driving on the job or not – can put your license and your livelihood at risk. For three decades, commercial drivers facing these charges have turned to the Florida DUI lawyers at Aguilar & Sieron, P.A.

Commercial drivers in Florida are held to a higher standard than drivers of passenger vehicles. This especially applies to drinking and driving. While most drivers are considered to be under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08% or above, the legal limit for commercial drivers is .04% BAC.

If you are convicted of a first-offense DUI, your CDL will be suspended for one year. You may be eligible to apply for a restricted license that allows you to drive a passenger vehicle in certain situations. But there is no such option that would allow you to operate a commercial vehicle. If you are convicted of a second-offense DUI, you will lose your CDL permanently.

There are also other consequences. You may be subject to fines, probation, community service and even jail time. You can lose your job. If you get your CDL back, or get a non-commercial driver’s license, your insurance premiums will skyrocket. And it can be difficult to find a new job in the industry with a DUI on your record.
